Progressive house music producer Basto is known for tracks such as Gregory’s Theme, Again & Again, Cloudbreaker and I Rave You.
He has also remixed the likes of Kylie Minogue, The Wanted, Conor Maynard, Labrinth, Moby and Sander van Doorn.
For summer 2012, he took the decision to remix a classic track by Spandau Ballet.
“When I first decided to remix Gold by Spandau Ballet I hesitated for a moment,” he says.
“Usually, I’m very skeptical when it comes to reworking classics. Why would you want to take a risk and ruin an epic record? But we managed to make it a very relevant dance track without losing the gist of the original. It’s not a remix of an old track anymore, it’s a cool record with an epic vocal.”
The reworked track teams Tony Hadley’s vocals with a banging main room electronic vibe and is currently available on Beatport.
