To celebrate the release of the new Cream Anthems 2013 compilation some of the biggest DJs in the world have been immortalised as eggs.
David Guetta, Calvin Harris and Fatboy Slim have been re-created as Cream DJ eggs in a wacky new YouTube video.
Meanwhile, the final touches are being put to the new Cream Anthems setlist featuring “the sounds and stars that are hitting clubland hard” such as Swedish House Mafia, Laidback Luke, Nicky Romero, Bingo Players and one of my personal favourites Porter Robinson.
There are also tracks by DJ Fresh, Tim Mason, Ferry Corsten, Sander van Doorn and Above & Beyond.
You Once Told Me is the first official band album by Mavie Marcos and Josh Gabriel otherwise known as Andain.
It features tracks including their most recent single – Turn Up The Sound – and Promises which was released in 2011.
“We blended natural acoustic sounds with electronic percussive ones throughout the album,” explains songstress Mavie.
“We made sure to keep our musical sound pallet, made up of our drum kits and analogue synth sounds, consistent throughout. We thought this would result in the most intricate album for the listener – something that is meant to be listened to in its entirety as a cohesive piece of music – not just a string of singles.”
Andain have previously created anthemic records such as Summer Calling and Beautiful Things.
For the 6th consecutive year Robbie Rivera presents his Juicy Ibiza mix compilation.
It features tracks by artists such as Ultra Nate, Cosmic Gate, Andain, Bobina and Tiësto.
“Epitomizing the sun-drenched atmosphere of vacation time, beaches, palms and pool parties in his unique matchless style, DJ/Producer Robbie Rivera drops the newest cuts in a feel good summer vibe” say Black Hole Recordings about the new release.
Rivera is known for tracks including Closer To The Sun, Let Me Sip My Drink, Rock The Disco and We Live For The Music.
His latest album – Dance Or Die – was released in May 2012 and the most recent single – In The Morning – is receiving radio play worldwide.
This is the 3rd installment in the chillout compilation series compiled by Pedro Del Mar.
There are 17 new cuts, many of them previously unreleased, by artists such as Roger Shah, Bjorn Akesson, Jamie Carpenter, Motif and Sunlounger.
“Playa Del Lounge really means a lot to me,” says Del Mar.
“I have been active in the music industry for 16 years, rushing from gig to gig and meeting to meeting, but one thing is key for me. To make sure that I can escape the busy daily life by working on my annual chillout album.”
“It means that I invest a lot of effort and passion into the project simply because it is such a great experience to check out hundreds or even thousands of downbeat tunes.”
“Think of it as a nice combination of brainstorming and creative music sessions with first class international artists in order to secure exclusive material that matches my vision.”
“As always I didn’t want to limit the musical style to one particular chillout sound. I wanted to showcase the wide range and all facets of ambient, chillout, downbeat, acoustic and other influences and in all modesty I can say that Volume 3 covers them all.”
Sixteen of the tracks are vocal tunes featuring the voices of artists such as Betsie Larkin, Emma Hewitt, Inger Hansen, Ana Criado, Andain and Adrina Thorpe.
There is also a new single by Del Mar himself which is a collaboration with Richard Durand and Roberta Harrison.
Richard Durand focuses the new 10th edition of the In Search Of Sunrise compilation on Australia.
“Australia is a country I’ve wanted to locate an ISOS ever since I took over mixing the series,” he says.
“Its dance music history stretches right the way back to the start of the 90s. However, it is only in the last 3 years that I’ve felt the type of music I spin has gone supernova there. I’m thrilled that I get to pay dues to that here with what I think is a new level high for music on the series.”
The compilation features tracks by Eximinds, Danny Dove, Dimension, Alex O’Rion, Sunny Lax, Norin & Rad and Zoo Brazil across the first 2 discs.
For the first time a 3rd disc has been included in the release package.
“It is an incredible feeling being the ISOS compiler/mixer. This is an experience I would like each and every person to share. That is never going to be possible, of course. But when Black Hole suggested, as part of the 10th release, we did an ISOS all-time classics disc, I did feel there was a way in which I could make it happen for at least one other DJ” says Durand.
The label ran a competition which resulted in thousands of entries for the chance to compile and mix the 3rd CD in the compilation.
Thomas Mengel, a 27 year old Danish DJ, was chosen as the artist best able to capture the In Search Of Sunrise vibe in a live set.
“I’m hugely excited to have won this competition! I really wanted to contribute the perfect selection of classic In Search Of Sunrise tracks. ISOS reminds me of summer, the beach, happiness and tasty cocktails so I wanted to capture that atmosphere. I think by using a lot of beautiful vocal tracks and the fact that mine was a live mix it helped me to catch ISOS’ completely unique feel” he said after finalising his contribution to the release.
The 19th edition of the In Trance We Trust compilation series has been mixed by Danish dj and producer Kris O’Neil.
O’Neil started his career working on a local radio station and since then has produced tracks including Paid My Douche, Those Mornings, No Porn Intended and Swingersclub.
He has also been responsible for numerous mix compilations on Black Hole Recordings.
The In Trance We Trust series has previously been entrusted to the likes of Carl B, Mark Norman, Bobina, Cor Fijneman and Virtual Vault.
For the 19th album, Kris O’Neil has chosen tracks by artists including Allure, Cosmic Gate & JES, Andain, Andy Duguid, Marcel Woods, Marc Simz and Bobina.
This new album is a retrospective of Factory Records, the Manchester club-turned-record label.
Compiled by Bill Brewster of djhistory.com it features 12″ mixes and other rarities from 1980-1987.
The music explores Factory’s strong links with the New York club culture of the 1980s and features tracks by Blurt, New Order, Quando Quango and A Certain Ratio.
The package also includes rare artist photos and original label artwork by Peter Saville.
Fac. Dance is available on iTunes, Amazon, and hmv.com and is a Strut Records release.
