Join the #trancenation conversation
To celebrate the release of the new Trance Nation compilation, German production duo Cosmic Gate will be taking part in a live Twitter interview on Friday 24 February 2012.
For one hour, Nic and Bossi will be answering questions live from fans using the #trancenation.
To take part simply log on to Twitter at 14.30 (GMT) and send your questions to @RealCosmicGate using #trancenation.
The Trance Nation album features tunes by Jeroem Isma-Ae, Boom Jinx, Matt Davey, Tiesto and Marcel Woods. There is also a new track by Cosmic Gate called Crushed as well as a previously unreleased remix by the duo of Emma Hewitt’s Colours.
This is a great opportunity for the worldwide #trancefamily to ask @RealCosmicGate about their music, their career and their work on the hugely respected #trancenation album.
See you there!
Trance Nation mixed by Cosmic Gate
I’ve already revealed the new Trance Nation compilation has been mixed by production duo Cosmic Gate.
The album features tracks by Jerome Isma-Ae, Boom Jinx, Matt Davey, Tiesto, and Marcel Woods as well as Cosmic Gate themselves.
I could write a review about driving basslines and soaring synths but I won’t. I’m simply going to tell you whether I think it is any good.
But first a little background. Cosmic Gate have created 5 artist albums, 28 singles and 46 remixes as well as 4 previous mix compilations.
They have achieved 7 Top 40 singles in their homeland of Germany as well as a UK Top 10 success with Fire Wire.
They were chosen by Ministry of Sound to create the latest Trance Nation compilation after previous editions by the likes of Above & Beyond, Andy Moor and Rank 1.
The first disc opens in slightly reflective mood exemplified by the Nic Chagall & Duderstadt track Alone With You.
Track 5 marks a change in tone with the more upbeat Boom Jinx ft. Justine Suissa – Phoenix From The Flames.
Mat Zo’s track Bipolar is guaranteed to appeal to those who like to spend time on a dance floor as will the chunky sounding Abstract Vision & Elite Electronic – Always Exotic.
I think CD2 is probably my favourite disc. It kicks off with an extended intro mix of All Around You by Cosmic Gate with Myon & Shane54 and keeps up the intensity with tracks such as Ost & Meyer – Scarlet Heaven and the Nash & Pepper remix of Tiesto – Flight 643.
Special mention goes to the Stoneface & Terminal remix of Cosmic Gate & Arnej – Sometimes They Come Back For Me and the excellent Coconut by Cold Blue.
Overall, I think this is a commendable addition to the Trance Nation series and well worth buying if you enjoy the chunkier, electro-influenced vein of the genre.
Trance Nation
The latest edition of the Trance Nation compilation series has been compiled and mixed by duo Cosmic Gate.
It features tracks by Temple One, Mat Zo, Matt Davey, Gareth Emery and Tiesto as well as a new track by Cosmic Gate themselves.
“It’s an honour for us to be mixing this international, established and influential brand mix series by Ministry of Sound and be the next ambassador after respected colleagues and friends like Above & Beyond, Andy Moor and Rank 1″ explained Nic and Bossi.
This new compilation follows a busy 2011 for the duo. They released their 5th artist album as well as a retrospective called Back 2 The Future. In the midst of a global tour, which included 70 shows in north America, they also delivered their debut Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1.
Trance Nation, mixed by Cosmic Gate, is available to pre-order and will be released by Ministry of Sound on 20 February 2012.
